Snow Day vs. other snow day predictors

There are dozens of snow day calculators. Most are free websites paid for by ads, a few are apps with subscriptions, and none of them run on Apple Watch or explain their number. Here is how Snow Day compares, using each product's own App Store listing or website as of September 2026.

Snow Day vs. Snow Day Calculator

David Sukhin's Snow Day Calculator is the original, and its website is still the best-known name in the category. The iPhone app costs $0.99, then charges $0.99 to $2.99 for text alerts, uses US National Weather Service data by ZIP code, collects a device identifier for analytics, and was last updated in December 2020. It has no Apple Watch app or widgets. Snow Day covers Canada as well as the US, shows its reasons, runs on your wrist, and never charges again.

Snow Day vs. Flurry

Flurry is a free US-only predictor that describes a nine-factor algorithm and offers a seven-day outlook and radar. It is honest about not collecting data. It has no Apple Watch app or widgets, and no way to tell it how easily your board cancels. Snow Day trades the radar for a model you can read, an Apple Watch app, and both countries' official alerts.

Snow Day vs. Snow Day Predictor Weathercan

Weathercan is Canada-only, free to install, and sells weekly, monthly and yearly subscriptions. Its App Store privacy label declares identifiers used to track you across other companies' apps for advertising. It has widgets and Live Activities but no Apple Watch app. Snow Day is a single 99-cent purchase with nothing collected, and adds the watch.

Snow Day vs. free web calculators

Sites like snowdaycalculator.com, snowpredictor.ca, snowdaypredictor.com and snow-calculator.com answer the same question in a browser. They are free, most run ads, and most tell you to come back between 5 and 6 AM and check again. None can tap you on the wrist at 9 PM, none put a number on your lock screen, and few say how the number was made. If you check once a winter, a website is fine. If you check every storm, Snow Day is the one that checks for you.
