Snow Day privacy policy

Snow Day has no accounts, no analytics, no advertising, and no servers of its own. Your location is used only to fetch a weather forecast and alerts, and it stays on your devices.

What the app uses

Location

With your permission, Snow Day reads your device's approximate location to know which forecast to fetch. You can instead type a city name; the app then uses that city's coordinates and never reads your location. The most recent coordinate is stored on your device, in the app's private storage shared with its widgets and the watch app, so background refreshes can run without waking the GPS.

Your settings

Units, notification time, snow tolerance, cold policy and factor weights are stored on your device and mirrored to your Apple Watch. They are never sent anywhere else.

Notifications

Notifications are scheduled locally on your device. The app does not use push notification servers.

Who receives data

To produce a forecast, the app sends the coordinate it is forecasting for to these services over an encrypted connection: Open-Meteo (open-meteo.com) for the hourly forecast, Environment and Climate Change Canada (api.weather.gc.ca) for Canadian alerts, and the US National Weather Service (api.weather.gov) for US alerts. The requests contain the coordinate and nothing else about you, and they are answered in real time; nothing is retained. Each service's own privacy policy governs how it handles requests. Snow Day never sends your location, settings, or any identifier to the developer.

What the app does not do

No account or sign-in
No analytics, crash reporting, or advertising SDKs
No tracking across apps or websites, and no sale or sharing of data
The app is not directed at children under 13 and collects no data from anyone

This website

isitasnowday.com is a static site hosted on Vercel. It sets no cookies and runs no analytics. Vercel's servers keep standard access logs (IP address, time, page) for operational purposes under Vercel's privacy policy.

Your choices

You can revoke location access at any time in iOS Settings; the app keeps working with a typed city. Deleting the app deletes everything it stored.
